Foxes Lane Museum: Just down the street from Leahys this is an intriguing way to spend and hour or two viewing the many artifacts of a bygone ere.
The Visitor Centre, which is open all year round, incorporates the Tourist Office and Heritage Centre.
A visit to the centre is an essential first step to viewing the town itself. The staff will be pleased to answer queries, offer suggestions, and in every way help to make your holiday both pleasant and enjoyable.
In the Heritage Centre, displays of artifacts, images and models illustrate the history of Youghal. Outside, in the town itself, history is evident in the buildings and structures dating back to medieval times. Just a short walk from Leahy's Lee House is The Clock Gate which was built in 1777 on the site of Trinity Castle which was part of the town's fortifications. The old Trinity gate had separated the Base Town from the medieval town proper. The Clock Gate served the town as goal and public gallows until 1837.
Heritage Guided Walking Tours take place daily in season at 11:00 a.m. The tours are even available off-season by arrangement.
